Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM) *Directorate of Personnel & Family Readiness (DPFR), a combination of Armed Forces Community Service (AFCS) and Directorate of Human Resources (DHR) programs & services, provides numerous programs and resources for Service members, their Families, Retirees, Survivors and DoD Civilians.

What We Do

Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM) Directorate of Personnel & Family Readiness (DPFR),formerly Armed Forces Community Service (AFCS), provides numerous programs and resources for Service members (all branches, including Active Duty, Guard and Reserve),their Families, Retirees and DoD Civilians.

DPFR is the JBLM community navigator and we coordinate and deliver services to the JBLM community. We:

  • Conduct assessments for services
  • Offer resources and referrals
  • Link customers to other helping agencies, on and off the installation

Our Mission

Our mission is to assist Service members and their Families maintain mission and Family readiness by promoting and teaching resiliency, stability and self-reliance.

Our History

We are an Army-led joint base with a diverse population; to embrace our joint base culture we created Armed Forces Community Service (AFCS) in 2014, which combined Army Community Service (ACS) and the Airman & Family Readiness Center (A&FRC). In 2017 AFCS merged with DHR (which houses In/Out Processing, ID Cards and other services) to create DPFR.

DPFR spans several locations. The main locations are in Waller Hall on Lewis Main and Bldg. 100 on McChord Field. Other locations which house one or more DPFR programs or services are also listed below.
