What is a Soldier & Family Readiness Group (SFRG)?

  • Promotes commander’s vision throughout the unit’s mission

  • Solves problems at the lowest level

  • Assists Families in becoming knowledgeable and self-reliant

  • Provides official, accurate command information

  • Advocates efficient use of community resources

  • Reduces soldier and Family stress

  • Increases attention to the mission

What can I expect of my SFRG?

  • Connect you to community information, volunteer opportunities and referral services.

  • Help your Family prepare for separation due to deployment or extended field exercises.

  • To meet people who have a common bond and make new friends and to be with others who understand the Army lifestyle.

  • Provide a peer-to-peer support system on handling military life experiences.

  • Serve as a vital link in exchanging information between unit leadership and Families.

How can I contact my SFRG?

  • Ask your spouse or someone in your spouse’s unit.
  • Contact the Unit.
  • Locate the unit’s (Brigade/Battalion) Facebook page and request the SFRG contact information for your unit.
  • Ensure that your unit SFRG roster contains your current mailing address and telephone number.

Key Spouses for Air Force

What is a Key Spouse?

  • Key Spouses are volunteer military spouses from within your unit who are trained and appointed by the unit commander.
  • They perform a vital communication role between unit leadership and its Families. 
  • Key Spouses provide support to the Families of military members during times of need. 
  • Key Spouses assist Families in finding available base & community resources to utilize.
  • Every Air Force unit on JBLM has at least one Key Spouse.

What can I expect of my Key Spouse?
