Fire Lookout Hike

#

Departure - Return Time: 0600-1700
Meeting Location: Northwest Adventure Center
Cost: $75

Hike to historic fire lookouts built in the 1930s and experience the beauty of the Pacific Northwest. Trails begin in old-growth forests and wind up to sweeping views while passing waterfalls and fording streams. Out of the 90+ remaining lookouts, Heybrook and High Rock have been selected this season, condition/weather dependent, with Suntop and Burley Mountain lookouts as contingencies (short walk-up or drive up). All routes are out and back, averaging between 4 and 6 miles round-trip with considerable elevation gain ranging between 1,000 and 1,500 feet within half of the overall distance. Fire Lookouts are in remote locations, so be prepared for at least a 2-hour drive and some dirt road fun before arriving at the trailhead.

Participant Restrictions: Ages 13+ with participants under 18 being accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Not recommended for those with knee issues as these are rated moderate to hard.
