Washington State Child Care for Military Families Workgroup
The purpose of the Workgroup is:
- Examine barriers for military families to access high quality childcare
- Provide recommendations that will assist military families in accessing high quality childcare
- Develop resources in coordination with military installations and the Department of Children, Youth & Families to increase access to high quality childcare for military families – and create lists of existing resources to distribute
- Diapering Supplies for Families

The Monarch Diaper Bank provides free diapering supplies for families to pick up at the Children’s Museum of JBLM on Fridays and Sundays. Families are invited to receive a 5-day supply of diapers and a package of wipes per child in addition to enjoying Pay as You Will Admission to play inside the Museum. Child Care for Medical Appointments
Children’s Waiting Room enables junior enlisted service members and their families to make health and well-being a priority. This unique program provides child care services at the installation clinic, enabling parents to keep scheduled appointments without the stress of finding child care outside of the hospital.
- Care is completely FREE
- Available to active duty service members and veterans and their dependents with ID
- Provides up to two hours of supervision for children during medical appointments
- Care is provided for children ages 6 months to 12 years
- Reservations are by appointment only and should be made as far in advance as possible
- Closed on hospital training days, weekends, and federal holidays
