At Grandstaff & Book Patch Children’s Libraries, cruise through the United States with books taking place in different locations and states on your chosen route. Routes (book selections) will be designed for all ages and
interests. Friends from the American Red Cross will be bringing Thor, a therapy dog, to Grandstaff Library on Monday, March 3. You can read to him and participate in other fun activities as well. Plus each day of the week you can enjoy games and activities focusing on certain areas:
- Monday: Pacific Coast Highway
- Tuesday: Route 66
- Wednesday: The Oregon Trail
- Thursday: The Great River Road
- Friday: The Appalachian Trail
- Saturday: Atlantic Coast Trail
Each day, Book Patch & Grandstaff Libraries will have scavenger hunts, board games and take away crafts that correspond to places in the U.S. Throughout the week, there will be puzzles for both children and adults themed around certain routes, an interactive U.S. map that individuals can mark with their hometown, along with daily rotating books and other materials (DVDs) themed for each route.
At McChord Library, celebrate Dr. Seuss throughout the week. (His birthday is March 2.) On Monday, you can create a Dr. Seuss button. On Thursday, enjoy a special Dr. Seuss-themed storytime with a special guest reader.
Throughout the whole week, you can participate in the Cat in the Hat Seek & Find and take photos in the photo booth. Wrapping the week up on Friday, enjoy games, activities, crafts and movies!
