The climbing wall is open to DOD ID cardholders. Those younger than 12 must be supervised by an adult at all times.

Climbing Wall Policies
Wall staff has the right to deny access to and remove participants from the wall who they assess as a safety risk to themselves or others.
Participants must be one of the following:
- Active, retired or spouse/family member of a service member.
- A DOD civilian with access to the confines of JBLM.
- A friend of the above with the ability to legally enter the confines of JBLM.
- Participants must wear a shirt at all times.
- Participants must wear closed-toe shoes at all times.
- Participants must have a current waiver on file. A new waiver must be completed each fiscal year.
- Participants should remove all jewelry, tie back long hair, avoid wearing loose clothing, and remove items from their pockets before climbing or belaying to avoid injury to themselves and others.
- Loose chalk is not permitted to help limit the impact of chalk dust on the air quality and facility. Climbers may use chalk balls.
- At least one qualified staff member (i.e. climbing wall lead or AU administrator) must be present at the climbing wall at all times while the climbing wall is in use.
At JBLM ICW (Indoor Climbing Wall), will serve climbers who climb for a variety of reasons and improving the quality of life for families and Service Members on JBLM. The ICW (Indoor Climbing Wall) will be utilized for Warrior Adventure Quest, Unit and Squadron PT, general open climbing, and after-hours scheduled groups and classes. Climbing pushes personal boundaries, forces climbers to rely on one another for safety and support, and often results in the creation of tight-knit, supportive communities.- To exercise

The mission of the ICW (Indoor Climbing Wall) is to provide a safe and fun environment for users of all kinds to participate in the sport of rock climbing. The facility will foster development and help to maintain and develop new and intermediate rock climbing skills in a safe controlled environment.
The JBLM McChord Field ICW (Indoor Climbing Wall) general usage will be at no charge for Active Duty Service Members and Dependents. A $5 general usage fee will be charged to Civilian/Non- Military/Retirees. Rentals of shoes, harnesses, and chalk bags will be available at a cost of $3. In order to belay, each climber will be required to pass a belay test free of charge. Participants wanting to learn how to belay may register for a $10 class at the JBLM ICW (Indoor Climbing Wall) facility.
JBLM ICW Polices- All climbers who wish to belay and climb beyond bouldering must complete a belay qualification test (also known as a belay check) at least once per year. After (1) one year the participant will need to retest their skills.
- Belayers must be qualified at JBLM climbing wall. Certifications and belayer cards from other establishments will not be accepted.
- To become a qualified belayer, participants must attend an introduction to Climbing workshop or have adequate belaying experience as judged by the climbing wall staff.
- Once a participant passes the belay class they will receive a certification card good for one year and records of completion will be kept on file at the ICW facility. Upon check-in the participant must present the certification card to the ICW staff member.
- Participants must have a current waiver on file. A new waiver must be completed each fiscal year.
- At least one qualified staff member (i.e. climbing wall lead or AU administrator) must be present at the climbing wall at all times while the climbing wall is in use.
