Not registered yet? Find a friend who’s registered and tag along on a one-time pass. If you like what you see, fill out an application. The Hillside Youth Center will do all the behind-the-scenes work, including verifying with parents for permission, to get you registered.
New to JBLM? Fill out the Youth Sponsorship Request Form and be paired up with a Teen Zone regular who will help ease your transition into your new home and youth center. Email completed forms to Hillside Youth Center.
- Academics

There are so many reasons why you should come to the Hillside Youth Center after school! Besides the great camaraderie, you can maintain and improve your academic goals – quietly read, study and compare notes. There is also a designated lab just for homework, where you’ll find all the resources you need. At the Hillside Youth Center, young students can get homework assistance and peer tutoring, use the state-of-the-art computer lab and multimedia tools for projects and presentations, prep for the SAT & ACT and fill out college applications, career launch and earn Power Hour points.
Computer Lab
Work on school projects or play the latest online game (parents, there’s an approved list of Internet sites). Integrate your work from the computer lab into other aspects of the Hillside Youth Center, and turn regular snapshots into memorable scrapbooks: edit your photos and layout pages before heading to the arts and crafts area to jazz them up.
College preparedness and employment coaching
Hillside Youth Center staff members are dedicated to helping teens enter adulthood – whether their chosen paths take them to college or the workforce. Heading to college? Perform Internet searches for the right school for you, fill out applications for enrollment, search for financial aid and prepare FAFSA applications. Joining the workforce? Fill out applications, prepare your resume and practice for interviews.

Community outreach programs are geared toward enriching our community while offering youth the opportunity to connect with others and fulfill community-service requirements. Possible projects include adopting a street on base, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, mentoring, tutoring and volunteering. By volunteering and exhibiting positive choices at the Hillside Youth Center, youth can earn Teen Bucks that may be exchanged for prizes.

Lounge, game room and field trips
At the Hillside Youth Center, there are so many places to hang out! Head to one of two lounges that boast oversized projection TVs, or snag a quiet space for talking, reading, relaxing or playing your favorite board game. The Hillside Youth Center also has pool, ping-pong and foosball tables.Experience all the Pacific Northwest has to offer with awesome field trips with your friends. Check out a game of one of the minor and major league teams that call the area home, explore trails with Mount Rainier as the backdrop and visit local landmarks. Shop, sightsee and visit local amusement parks and zoos – there’s plenty to do
Leadership
Sign up for the 4-H Club when you register for CYS. The 4-H Club at the Hillside Youth Center offers many programs to enrich your character – Operation Military Kids, Hero Packs and Purple Camp are just a few. The Boys and Girls Club of America offers leadership opportunities for youth ages 11-18 – Torch Club for ages 11-13 and Keystone Club for ages 14-18. Active participants are encouraged to attend local and national youth conferences.
Sports & Fitness
The Hillside Youth Center has a full-sized indoor basketball court, as well as an outdoor court. Plus, with a little set up, there’s an indoor volleyball court, too. Just next door is the large youth sports field complex.
Challenge your friends to a run of the obstacle course, which is right outside the Hillside Youth Center's back door, along with a challenging playground. The covered patio area is the perfect place to relax or enjoy a barbecue. On select summer weekends, the patio becomes the hub for an open-air movie theater.
Late Nights at the Teen Zone are a designated evening of hoops, brackets and food. Get your team together and sign up for the next tourney.
Leisure Activities
From drawing, painting, sewing and anything your imagination can come up with, you can create it in arts and crafts area. Check out the selection of materials and supplies, and get started on your project!
If you enjoy the culture and beauty of dance, literature and song, join the Teen Zone on trips to local theaters and studios. Plus, bring your talent to the Teen Zone and help put on a show with the drama club or host a talent show.

CYS Youth Program Registration Form
Students in grades 6-12 are invited to Hillside Youth Center Teen Zone for recreational, academic and social opportunities. All youth must be registered with CYS and the Teen Zone.
The Middle School Program is for students in grades 6-8 and includes after-school care during the week. Plus, care during school breaks may be available, and open recreation is offered on weekends.
The High School Program is for students in grade 9-12.
All registered students may participate in Keystone Club, Torch Club, Power Hour, Work Force and Technology Center, which teach citizenship, values and leadership and are made possible because of partnerships with the Boys and Girls Club of America, 4-H Club, Red Cross, National Alliance for Youth Sports and Character Counts.
Hillside Youth Center is out of this world!
