COVID-19

If desired, to pursue COVID-19 vaccination off base go to the WA State Dept. of Health website for vaccine locations and Phase information.  doh.wa.gov/Emergencies/COVID19/vaccine

Your health is our primary concern, and as such, masks are required for all MWR locations for unvaccinated personnel. Masks are still required at CYS locations regardless of vaccination status. * JBLM continues to follow protection measures on base to keep service members, families, civilian employees and others safe. Customers and team members are asked to visit the nearest washroom to clean their hands before conducting business in our locations.

Any changes to facility and program operations will be shared here and on facebook as soon as updates are available.

*Masks are not required inside fitness centers during moderate or intense exercise or if you are fully vaccinated (at least two weeks beyond your final dose). At our eating establishments, unvaccinated customers may remove their mask once seated with their orders. At outdoor MWR locations (non-CYS), masks continue to be required for unvaccinated customers when safe physical distancing standards cannot be met. Masks are still required at outdoor CYS locations regardless of vaccination status.

Basewide closures, postponements and cancellations can be seen here.

NEW  I Corps Blue Hash effective MAY 14, 2021

Fully vaccinated personnel (who are at least two weeks beyond their final dose) are no longer required to wear a mask indoors or outdoors on JBLM. Masks are still required, regardless of vaccination status, at medical treatment centers/hospitals, public transportation, and facilities that primarily serve children.

Personnel who are not fully vaccinated (including children) continue to follow all previously published guidance for the wear of masks. Exceptions include: (1) when at their residence; (2) when alone in an office; (3) when physically distanced and conducting exercise; or (4) when necessary to reasonably accommodate a disability.

FAMILY CHILD CARE:
In order to continue to expand childcare options on base, CYS is looking for Family Child Care providers. FCC providers provide care in their on-base homes, which allows them to care for their own children while receiving fees and subsidies for additional children. All providers must complete background checks, home inspections and training prior to opening for the safety of all. While the process takes time, providers can make up to $2,000 a month. As an additional incentive for families considering this option, there is also a $1,000 bonus, paid in installments, to any NEW FCC provider that opens on JBLM. Additionally, when you PCS and reopen your home at your next installation, there is a $1,000 retention bonus. We hold the FCC Orientation monthly. There is no need to sign-up in advance, but feel free to contact FCC with any questions at 253-967-3039 or see our Facebook Events Tab for details.

SCHOOLS: School Re-Opening Tracker Updated a/o 14 May 21.
Local school districts are currently in different stages of planning for return to learning. The safety of staff and students is the priority. We encourage you to stay in contact with your student's schools for up-to-date information. Please see the CYS/COVID FAQ on the following page for more information: https://jblm.armymwr.com/happenings/school-information

FLU SHOTS:
Flu shots were required by Dec. 31 for children and staff using CYS services and programs. Madigan will be providing additional information about flu shot clinics as the vaccine becomes available. Families should reference the recent CYS memo for details.

HIRING:
As MWR starts to reopen facilities and looks to expand CYS spaces, staffing remains a challenge. If you are looking for a job, please consider applying at USAjobs.gov where all our vacancies are listed.

TRENDING TOPICS
CHILD CARE

CYS continues to offer childcare based on the DOD Priority List -- currently placing all Single/Dual AD military (1C) and as many AD with working spouse (1D) as possible. CYS continues to evaluate incoming families at the 1C priority category.

The DOD Priority List was changed on Sept. 1. We want to ensure families understand the need to seek alternate care options. This will mostly affect DOD civilians (1E), as we do not project to have space available for care for families in that category. DOD personnel are eligible for fee assistance for care off-base through Child Care Aware of America. We encourage these families needing immediate care to find a location off-base first that accepts a CCAoA subsidy and then come into Parent Central to receive a statement of non-availability/waiver to secure a childcare space off-base. We recommend seeking a location first that qualifies and then going through the process to obtain the waiver because waivers are valid for 10 days only. For more information, the CCoA website is childcareaware.org.

For incoming families, please ensure you get signed up on the CYS waitlist for care through militarychildcare.com. We are attempting to also place 1C (single and dual military families) as well. There are already 150 1C children on the waitlist, but this helps us to continually address need. Militarychildcare.com also requires families to update their need for care every 90 days.
