An official army family and MWR Site

Warrior Zone is currently closed for an interior construction project. The recreation side will reopen on Wednesday, June 3. The food operation is slated to reopen sometime in July.

Renovations began Monday, Feb. 9. While the Warrior Zone is under construction, your favorite programming will be temporarily relocated as listed below:

  • BINGO: Back at Warrior Zone in June!
  • Poker: Back at Warrior Zone in June!

BACKGROUND: The 28,000 sq. ft. Warrior Zone is a cornerstone of the Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) program for soldiers aged 18 and older, including the Better Opportunities for Single Service Members (BOSS) program. It serves as a central hub for socializing, gaming, and entertainment. The proposed refresh, to be executed by Centennial Contractors Enterprises, Inc. (a contractor with extensive experience on JBLM), aims to transform the space into a modern, welcoming and highly functional environment.

PROJECT SCOPE & KEY UPGRADES: The project entails a comprehensive interior renovation with a focus on durability, modern aesthetics and improved functionality.

  • Overall Aesthetics: The facility’s look will be updated with a fresh, contemporary color palette, energy-efficient LED lighting, and new flooring to create a more vibrant and invigorating atmosphere.
  • Zoning and Flow: The open-plan layout will be improved with clear, purposeful zones for different activities (lounge, gaming, dining). Distinct flooring patterns and colors will be used for intuitive wayfinding and traffic flow.
  • Kitchen & Bar Upgrade: The existing snack bar will be upgraded to a real grill and bar. This includes installing a new commercial cooktop, deep fryer, ventless dishwasher, and an enlarged exhaust hood with a specialized ANSUL fire suppression system to improve both safety and food service options.
  • Key Area Enhancements:
    • Lounge/Social Areas: Existing cork flooring will be replaced with durable, American-made Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT).
    • Gaming/Computer Areas: Worn-out carpet will be replaced with modular carpet tiles, and damaged casework (desks) will be reinforced with metal edge banding to extend their lifespan.
    • Restrooms & Billiards Area: Surfaces will be updated, and moisture issues will be addressed to create a cleaner experience.

EXECUTION TIMELINE & OPERATIONAL IMPACT:

  • Project Duration: The construction phase will be executed within a concentrated 90-day window.
  • Start Date: Work is scheduled to commence in mid-February.
  • Facility Status: To ensure crew safety and expedite the project, the Warrior Zone will be fully closed for the duration of the 90-day construction period.
  • Continuity of Services: All MWR programs currently operating out of the Warrior Zone will be temporarily relocated to other MWR facilities on JBLM. This will ensure there is no gap in service or support for our soldiers during the renovation.

DESIRED END STATE: Upon completion, the Warrior Zone will be a modern, resilient, and highly functional facility that directly contributes to the quality of life for JBLM soldiers. The project will deliver a safe, engaging, and comfortable environment that supports rest, recreation, and community, reinforcing its role as a premier MWR destination.
